Crown Castle International unveils the shape of things to come at NAB 2001
Warwick 02 May 2001 - Crown Castle International, the world's leading supplier of independent communications infrastructure and network services, unveiled the shape of things to come in the broadcast industry at NAB 2001.
Future innovations featured strongly, including D2H - a high speed wireless data pipeline to the home; Mini-mux - more efficient use of available spectrum; mobile reception of digital television and the converging world of wireless networks. An interactive demonstration of convergence showed how Crown Castle enables the future technology, which will shape our world.
These developments stem from an outstanding track record of industry world firsts. At NAB, Crown Castle displayed its special expertise in:
- Digital TV - Crown Castle is responsible for designing, building and operating the world's first digital terrestrial TV network for the BBC and Ondigital.
- Digital Radio Broadcast - Crown Castle installs and operates the BBC's nationwide digital radio network as well as regional networks for the new wave of localized digital broadcasters in the UK.
- 3G - Crown Castle is responsible for designing and building the pioneering 3G network in the Isle of Man, UK, scheduled to go live in May 2001.
Crown Castle also showed its global capacity for 'build to suit' networks and turnkey solutions. Services include consultancy (spectrum planning and network design), site acquisition and installation through to operations and maintenance.
